Role Introduction

A proven Senior Developer with around 6-8 years of strong technical experience in Microfocus COBOL, JCL, DB2 based applications integrated with Java


We are seeking an experienced and skilled candidate with passion for designing, evolving, and developing Microfocus COBOL based applications integrated with Java based UI keeping reusability in mind. The ideal candidate will possess solid technical skills on Cobol, Oracle and basic linux knowledge, as well as the drive to learn more about the business and new technologies. Candidate must have a sound grasp of development best practices and system architecture.

What You Will Do

  • A proven Senior Developer with around 6-8 years of strong technical experience in development of solutions using COBOL/ORACLE and basic Linux knowledge and integration with components developed using Java. He/She required to work for an application in Finance and spend solutions Domain.
  • Work with development teams, product owners and product managers, subject matter experts/architects/Principal Engineers/Devops team to implement software solutions
  • Provide Design solutions/ideas related to client-side and server-side architecture. Build frameworks/Components that can be adopted by various modules within product
  • Ensure required tools are configured (CI/CD/Automation) and technical challenges/dependencies are addressed
  • Understand functional/business requirements through user stories and translate into technical requirements and implement accordingly along with technical documents as required. Analyze and resolve technical and application problems.
  • Write effective APIs, Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software as required. Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards. Evaluate and ensure technical feasibility of designs whilst focusing on great user experience
  • Mentor Junior developers during development and Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
  • Create security and data protection settings. Package and support deployment of releases. Work within highly performant cross-functional squads/teams and take ownership of delivery commitments.
  • Accurately estimate and deliver high-quality work products to that schedule. Work closely with stakeholders and provide estimates factoring the risks involved.
  • Take features from inception to continuous delivery release using a strong understanding of software development principles and SDLC. Assure the quality of our products through coded automated unit testing.
  • Good Analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Involve in recruitment for Organization.

What You Will Have

  • Candidate should have 6-8 yrs experience in developing applications using Cobol/Oracle on different platforms like Linux/Solaris/Windows and integrations with .Net/Java modules. 
  • Very Good experience in implementing and designing/reviewing design patterns. Hands on experience in developing components framework/architecture.
  • Experience and skills to translate user stories, functional requirements into technical design and develop the same.  
  • Experience in integrating various components of COBOL modules including unit testing / CI/CD configuration.
  • Mentoring and grooming junior developers.
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate/work independently, work on multiple product developments. Should be able to drive team members to achieve the desired outcome of roadmap through re-usable components wherever feasible.
  • Desirable knowledge on Finance domain knowledge on ISO9001, ISO27001, ISO18001, GDPR, ISO14001
  • Good knowledge on Agile process and tools like JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, Jenkins.
  • Essential: Cobol, Oracle, Linux, Windows, Schedulers/batch jobs, Integration with .Net/Java modules.
  • Desirable: Process models (Agile). CI/CD. Automation, Estimation.
