Role Introduction

Infrastructure Architect will be working closely with customers and internal stakeholders on a continuous basis, understanding their needs, helping to architect solutions to complex problems, either as new opportunities or redesign of existing solutions.

Communication and collaboration are paramount to this role, you will work closely with a variety of internal and external business stakeholders and will be continually engaged and collaborating with our clients.

What You Will Do

  • Frequently working closely with clients to understand and capture requirements, developing technically and commercially viable solutions, either for new opportunities with new customers, transformation for existing customers or complex problems for previously implemented solutions.
  • Acting as a technical authority, working with the support teams and respective managers to keep them appraised on changes in technology and helping drive appropriate technical training.
  • Owning a standard documentation library for these products, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated in line with industry changes to technologies and methodologies.
  • Architecting solutions which drive automation to help reduce time spent by support teams and in turn, free time to innovate and drive service improvement.
  • Ownership – We are looking for or someone working towards being an experienced Architect who is capable of not only supporting, implementing and managing a wide variety of Enterprise Platform products and services, but also seen to be a ‘Subject Matter Expert’ in Platform technologies such as VMware and/or Hyper-V and Citrix Hypervisor.
  • Compliance – Ensure compliance to relevant standards (i.e. ISO 27001, 9001) and security (i.e. CIS, STIG, ISO/IEC) and help to ensure we can control, report and adequately measure and handle risks the business faces.
  • Team Working – As an effective and highly capable team member, you will self-manage your workload and proactively pickup requests and other work through the ITSM tool.
  • Documentation – Author new technical documentation for example for new solutions or changes in configuration required to adhere to updated security standards that is structured and relevant to the audience.

What You Will Have

  • Experienced architect, highly motivated and capable of quickly engaging with a diverse client base with their own unique set of challenges and complexities.
  • Demonstrable previous experience of architecting, implementing and supporting large-scale Microsoft workplace environments within a managed services environment or single, large enterprise.
  • Capable of producing detailed, well thought-through system design and functional specifications for Modern Workplace projects and solutions.
  • Solid awareness of commercial, contractual, assurance and governance constraints.
  • Keen willingness to mentor others in the team and wider department on technologies within your field of expertise.
  • Strong consultancy skills with the capacity to be an excellent motivator in order to meet deadlines and handle change.
  • Demonstrable previous experience of implementing and supporting large scale Enterprise Platforms including Virtualisation and Unified Computing platforms and services, both on premise and as a cloud service.
  • An ability to script and automate workload to help improve the overall efficiency of the team.
  • An ability to provide clear technical and non-technical documentation, tailored to the appropriate audience.
  • A practical understanding of gathering business requirements & scoping relevant solutions.
  • Strong consultancy skills and the capacity to effectively time manage workload in order to meet deadlines and handle change.
  • Effective coordination with an ability to thoroughly document and reliably coordinate planned changes between multiple parties.
  • A proven capability of problem solving, undertaking or designing tests to eliminate possible issues and working quickly and efficiently towards a solution
  • A commitment to participate in continual improvement processes, modelled around meeting ISO standards for; change control, quality and incident handling.
