Senior Software Delivery Systems Consultant

This governance role will consistently manage our tooling, delivery discipline, and integration practices. A single owner will ensure consistent Jira usage across our teams, provide a central point to manage Jira configuration and ensure teams produce reliable release data. As a forward-looking extension, this role will also enable AI-driven insights and automation by improving the quality and structure of engineering data and evaluate opportunities for AI adoption.

1. Jira Governance & Operational Ownership

Objective: Ensure Jira reflects the real state of engineering work and can support scalable operations.

Scope Includes:

1. Own global Jira configuration across projects, workflows, schemes, and custom fields.
2. Monitor Jira hygiene and follow up directly with teams to correct data issues (e.g., missing Fix Versions, stale tickets).
3. Align usage of key fields across teams to support standardized automation and reporting (Fix Version, Component, Status, etc.).
4. Support onboarding and coach EMs/PMs on how to use Jira effectively and consistently.

2. Release Practice Coordination

Objective: Make releases visible, auditable, and consistently tracked across all teams without centralizing control.

Scope Includes:

1. Define and promote the shared release process: tagging conventions, Fix Version hygiene, version lifecycle.
2. Ensure that each shippable work item is linked to a valid release (post-merge tagging where appropriate).
3. Monitor adherence and follow up with teams who fall behind on tagging, versioning, or release finalization.
4. Enable visibility into Change Failure Rate (CFR) by correlating incidents or defects with releases.

3. Developer Experience & Toolchain Integration

Objective: Streamline the engineering experience across Jira, GitHub, Harness, and Aha! by removing manual steps and broken links.

Scope Includes:

1. Own and maintain integrations between planning (Aha!), delivery (Jira), code (GitHub), and deployment (Harness).
2. Implement or improve automation: e.g., auto-tagging of Jira tickets from merged PRs, release notes from commit metadata.
3. Partner with Platform Engineering to identify and resolve friction in dev-to-release workflows.
4. Act as the systems contact for DevEx issues related to planning, versioning, or tool coordination. Not for end-user support, but for system-level flow ownership.
5. Act as a partner for ProdOps on AHA Integration and data synchronization.

4. AI-Enablement for Delivery Insights & Automation

Objective: Prepare and structure our delivery data to support AI-driven reporting, summarization, and future automation.

Scope Includes:

1. Ensure Jira and GitHub data quality supports LLM-based tools (e.g., summarizing releases, identifying delivery risk).
2. Pilot basic AI capabilities such as GPT-based release changelogs, defect clustering, or delivery health summaries.
3. Work with internal AI or analytics teams to make engineering delivery data accessible and contextualized for downstream tools.
4. Explore opportunities for automation of low-value work (e.g., auto-filling ticket summaries, detecting duplicate tickets, estimating story complexity).
